Gavin Densmore of Home Care Seminars founded his home care business in May of 2000. Helping Hands of America is still in business today and continues to have a stellar reputation providing care to seniors in their homes!
The reason I founded it was pretty straight forward; I was out of work and looking for something to do. Historically, I had made my career selling software; little software packages, big software, it didn’t matter. I had done it for 20 plus years and was pretty good at it. Then one day, the company I was working for folded. Technically they didn’t fold up, more like slipped away in the night! All of us showed up one day to find the front doors chained shut! The long and short is that after having done the same thing for 20 plus years, and working for companies that had a declining interest in my well being, I thought it might be high time for a change.
As you can imagine, I was pretty disillusioned with software and working for someone else that had that much concern for me and my family. So, I had the brainstorm to own my own company! The question was, “What kind of business to get into?”
I looked at a variety of businesses prior to settling on the in-home, senior care business.
Well, that was eighteen years ago and HHOA is still caring for North Carolina seniors in their homes. It has proven to be both heartwarming and a way to gain financial independence / peace of mind. Personally it offered the chance to run my own show, utilize my God-given talents, and perhaps most importantly, treat people the way that I would like to be treated. Our clients truly appreciate the difference HHOA makes in their lives and the lives of their families (not the same life impact in the software industry) each and every day! More importantly, they look forward to our employees showing up each day!
When you attend one of our classes, you will be benefiting from over 45 years of home care experience. Some of our lessons we learned the hard way; in other words, we’ve taken the pain out of them for you! You can rest assured that what we pass along to you in class has been tested, and proven, repeatedly in the field.
